Indigo Textile Dyeing

€80.00

With Carlota Simó

This 4-hour indigo dyeing workshop takes place in Carlota Simó’s garden studio in Valldoreix, near Sant Cugat. Over the course of the afternoon, participants will learn about the indigo plant, its long cultural history, and the traditional process behind this ancient dye.

Together we will prepare the indigo bath and explore the unique rhythm of indigo dyeing—dipping fabrics into the vat, watching them emerge green, and observing the transformation into deep blues as the dye oxidizes in the air.

Using simple, natural tools, you’ll work on a cotton bandana (included) and may also bring two to three personal pieces from home to dye. Carlota encourages participants to explore, experiment, and let go of expectations. Beyond learning a technique, the workshop is an invitation to slow down and experience the act of creating together—where attention, quiet focus, and shared curiosity become part of the process.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with several indigo-dyed pieces and the experience of having taken part in a slow, hands-on practice rooted in craft, nature, and collective creativity.

About the artist

Anna Ruiz Planella is a Barcelona-based jeweler and the founder of Aguamarga Studios. She began her silversmithing studies in 2020 at Escola Massana in Barcelona and continued her training through specialized courses between 2021 and 2023 in schools and workshops across Barcelona and Lisbon, where she worked under the guidance of Judy McCaig. Alongside this formal education, her practice has been shaped by self-directed learning and experimentation.

Working primarily with metal, Anna places sustainability and craftsmanship at the center of her process. Her pieces are conceived as small, wearable sculptures, created through traditional silversmithing techniques.

Inspired by close observation of her surroundings, she translates natural forms, textures, and quiet details of everyday landscapes into contemporary jewelry—objects that invite both reflection and touch.
